The Forest of Dean wraps around this corner of Gloucestershire—ancient woodland, forest tracks, cycle routes threading through green valleys, and stone villages dotted across rolling terrain. Owl Barn sits in this landscape as a detached conversion with gardens facing the countryside and enough room for two families or a gathering of friends. Four bedrooms sleep eight: a double with ensuite on the ground floor, a kingsize with ensuite upstairs, and two twin rooms sharing a family bathroom.
The ground floor opens into kitchen and dining space with a breakfast bar, electric cooking, dishwasher and everything else needed to feed a crowd. A woodburner warms the living room on cooler days. Upstairs, one of the twin rooms has a smart TV; both twins open onto a Juliet balcony. The layout gives privacy where you need it and gathering space where you don't. One dog is welcome. A patio with furniture and barbecue looks out to the fields; there's parking on site and a bike store if you're cycling the forest trails. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included.
Close by are Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves and Beechenhurst. The Norchard Steam Railway runs nearby, and the walking is extensive—footpaths connect village to village across the forest floor. The coast is within an hour's drive.

cannot recommend enough - a total gem of a place Myself and a friend have been coming here for five years now. From the first visit, where we were guided through in the dark and met by the owners to the most recent, we have never been anything but 100% delighted with the Horseshoe Barn. Everything is sparkling clean and welcoming with all you need for a fantastic stay. The owners are nothing but obliging and the area itself is beautiful and peaceful, but near enough to amenities to not be isolated. We are so lucky to have found this little piece of luxury

I had a lovely stay at Priors Lodge Barns in October/November 2024 and this April 2025. It is a good base for exploring the Forest of Dean. Both cottages are finished to a high standard and have a lovely feel. The field for dog exercise is amazing, and all instructions were given in good time. I would recommend these lovely cottages to anybody wanting a holiday in the Forest. Thanks for having us.

Stayed at this place on numerous occasions.and already booked for xmas.cant praise the place enough.the accomodation is spotless and the owner's are on hand if you have any problems.

We had a lovely weekend here, 3rd to 6th Feb 23. Beautiful house with everything you need for a relaxing weekend with lovely views. I would highly recommend it, myself and a few old friends met up for a reunion and had a fab time 😊😊
