About Crowwood Hotel
Muirhead sits on the Cumbernauld Road on the edge of Glasgow, within a couple of miles of Stepps, and it's here that the Crowwood Hotel has built a loyal local following. This 38-room hotel is best known for its restaurant, which serves Indian food that draws diners from well beyond its own guests, backed up by staff who are generally friendly and attentive.
Rooms come with air conditioning, drinks available in-room, and free WiFi, though maintenance is not always consistent and service can vary from visit to visit. Guests have use of a bar, an indoor swimming pool, a gym, and a garden, alongside breakfast, lift access, and porter and luggage storage services. The hotel also handles meetings and weddings, with business services and meeting rooms on hand for those travelling for work.
Parking is free and on-site, useful given the setting just outside the city, and pets are welcome. There are further pubs, bars and restaurants nearby, along with other entertainment options in the area, making the Crowwood a reasonable base for exploring Glasgow without staying in the centre of it.
What guests say
Went here on Friday the 20 February for dinner. The service here was very fast the food came very quickly even though you could see they were busy there. Well that’s where the positive ended. I had tikka masala which when it came was shall we say just about hot and no more. My partner had steak pie with chips and straight away I said the chips were overcooked as that’s the way they looked and they were very crunchy. Well I normally have a dessert and a coffee to finish off the night but I didn’t stay here thanks but no thanks. Got a reduction on the bill but only because I asked. To some up the food less than mediocre at best. Will I return. Nope

Recently have stayed a few times. Only reason is it is close to where i am working. Rooms OK ish. This week half the TV channels dont work, that was after finding the socket the TV is plugged in doesnt work so hade to extend the lead to another one. Wifi in my room non existent. Reception guy looks at you like you've just landed from outer space if you ask him a question. Refused refund after advising I need to leave Thursday instead of Friday despite telling them at 5PM on Wednesday. Breakfast is a joke. Never again! Also lost 5 nights this coming week. Seems also to be housing people who have fallen on tough times which whilst shouldn't matter makes you wary when entering or exiting as some loiter near the entrance. I stand to be corrected on this point however but I am confident something is going on.

Stayed to go to a family wedding in late October locally. The rooms were clean and tidy but very dated. We were greeted by a pungent stench of cannabis in the corridor where our rooms were. Told reception but nothing got done. If you stay don’t waste your money on the £10 breakfast as it wasn’t the best. Went for a meal on the Friday night in the restaurant, the girls who served us our food were great but the lady taking the order needs some lessons in customer service and politeness. Very rude and abrupt.

I stayed in this hotel as part of a German travel group. The room assigned to me and my partner was very nice and comfortable, as well as the bathroom. The overall cleanliness however was lacking. During our stay it seemed like only the beds were made and the towels changed. A hoovering through the room (and bathroom) would have been appreciated. But overall a decent hotel. The staff at the reception were all very nice and professional.

Diners like this hotel's delicious and reasonably priced Indian food, and mention the staff provides friendly and attentive service.
Other reviews mention the rooms can be poorly maintained and the service can be inconsistent.
