About Camelot Retreat - Tor View

Meadow View gives its name to the street this Glastonbury B&B sits on, a quiet residential spot within reach of Glastonbury Tor and the Abbey, in the heart of Somerset's countryside and walking terrain. Camelot Retreat - Tor View is an adults-only guesthouse that keeps things simple, offering classic guestrooms with shared bathrooms rather than en-suite comfort, so it suits guests who don't mind compromising on privacy for a homely stay.

Rooms come with drinks provided, and breakfast is included to set guests up for the day. Beyond the rooms, the property has a garden to sit in, free WiFi throughout, luggage storage and 24-hour reception, along with free on-site parking. The retreat has also become known for spiritual self-discovery workshops, giving it a slightly different character to the average B&B.

Glastonbury's pubs, bars and restaurants are all within easy reach, and the surrounding area is well suited to cycling, walking and fishing. It's a straightforward base for exploring the town's mystical sites and the wider Somerset countryside, best suited to those happy with shared facilities in exchange for character and location.

Nice location in a residential area with a labyrinth of footpaths that took one to town or the tor etc. As others noted, rooms and the two bathrooms are fine but could with a refresh, all plenty clean enough. Bed in the Egyptian room is still broken, the side that one would naturally sit on us just crushed, which was a surprise when we arrived. Being tall and heavy I couldn't sleep that side, so we swapped sides and had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was fine, people have noted it is vegetarian so no meat etc had eggs but I wasn't going to cook brekkie anyway. Had toast as we usually do. So more a lodging house rather than a traditional B&B. It was like staying at your esoteric aunties house, lots of crystals, big ones too off you like that sort of thing and if you're staying in Glastonbury in a place called Camelot retreat then you probably will lol

Great location for Tor and chalice well. 15min walk into town. I didnt realise this when I booked and as a woman alone its quite dark in the winter (after 4pm) to walk into town. The host was lovely, breakfast is self catering, you help yourself to cereal and bread tea etc in the kitchen. Please be aware no shoes in the house, fair enough, but no meat or fish at all allowed. I was not aware of this, so planning to take fish and chips home was a no. Also no noise allowed after 10. Bathrooms were clean but could do with an update, the same with the bedrooms, my mattress near the window in the twin room facing Tor had seen better days. Also no tvs BUT kettles in rooms. All in all, it was worth the £75 a night I paid, pleasent, quiet, clean, good location and nice hosts.

Outstanding place to call home for a little while. Some guests have been here before and I can see why. It's tucked into residential. First arrival can park in driveway, make room for 2 small cars. Street parking is snug and doable. Lovely rooms, well decorated, simple, bright and airy with windows and a nice breeze. Green shrub, trees, and cute garden with sitting area. Bedroom has a latch on the inside. 1 bathroom/shower upstairs and shower downstairs. Both beautiful, modern and well maintained. Clean. Kitchen is well equipped with communal fridge/freezer and a small private one. Dining room is bright with a big window. Front door is always locked. Shoes off upon entry so house is always clean. Nice. Cathy is warm, friendly, supportive and does a great job of everything. It's a lovely quiet neighborhood, and I felt safe. Close to everything. I could see the Tor from my bedroom window. Oh and I absolutely Love the meditation room. WoW! Highly recommend this home for a stay. Enjoy!

Quite disapionted, the information and photographs on the website do not reflect the current presentation and condition of the rooms and the gardens. It is also not clear on the website that guests prepare their own breakfast. The bedding and towels were very poor quality and quite old. General hygiene and cleanliness could be improved. Communal bins in kitchen and bathrooms not emptied doing 2 night stay. Communal hand towels and bath mats not changed. Shower in communal bathroom very difficult to control. Dangerously hot at times or very cold. The property is in a lovely and convenient location and we were given a warm welcome. There is great potential but much attention needed to reach an appropriate standard.
