What visitors say
Last day of our hols and it was lashing down so I found this place at Arrington! We are so glad we did ! It’s amazing. One man and his friends are divers and everything in the museum has been bought to the surface by them. It’s incredible. The history there is amazing. Also fossils and Mesolithic artefacts to. It’s sat in an almost little village full of craft shops and glass blowing called Arrington Barns. It’s beautifully set with loads of ducks and fish which you can feed. A right little oasis. Also have antique shops and Nik naks. It’s well worth a visit on a sunny day for the setting it’s in or rainy as ours was !

Well worth a visit. We were greeted by a one of the divers who told us some tales about some of his dives which we found very interesting. The lady who took the entrance money was knowledgeable and very friendly and gave us local information as well as details about the museum and its founder. The museum itself was well laid out with both written and video explanations. My husband and I both highly recommend a visit.

The Shipwreck Centre and Maritime Museum is an absolute treasure trove of history and adventure. The exhibits are fascinating, with real artefacts recovered from shipwrecks around the Isle of Wight and beyond. It’s incredible to see how much care and passion has gone into preserving these pieces of maritime history. The staff are welcoming and full of great stories that bring the displays to life. A must-visit for anyone interested in the sea, shipwrecks, or local heritage!

A fascinating adventure for all the family, loads of interesting artifacts and treasures from the deep to explore. It's way too much to see and read everything all in one go, so you'll need to come back again to really do it justice (there's a lifetime of treasure hunting to look through) I'd recommend watching the video tour at the entrance to discover the story behind the museum and a lot of the artifacts, that'll help guide you to what you want to see most. Suitable for young and old, with activity sheets available for youngsters to keep them engaged.
