Ferry Cottage comes fully equipped for self-catering stays by the water. The ground floor layout includes a combined living and dining space with a woodburner, smart TV and French doors onto a decked area with outdoor furniture. The kitchen has an electric oven, hob and microwave. Two bedrooms—one with a double bed, one with two singles—each have their own ensuite shower room. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, along with initial logs for the woodburner. One car can park on-site; additional parking is about 85 yards away.

The cottage sits on the Martham Ferry Boat Yard, a working waterfront with access to coarse fishing and a private mooring point. The location puts you at the edge of a National Trust wildlife reserve on the River Thurne, with the Broads' quiet waterways immediate to explore on foot or by bike. For those wanting to get on the water itself, boat hire is available nearby. The property suits families and couples; one well-behaved dog is welcome. The grounds include an unfenced river, which matters if you're travelling with young children. Check-in is after 4pm and checkout before 10am. Smoking is not permitted inside.

Highly recommend visiting Martham Ferry Day Boat. Easy to book online and great communication leading up to the visit. Lovely, helpful staff, really warm greeting when we arrived. The boat itself was clean and provided what we needed, we booked an electric boat which was lovely and quiet. Loved the area, very peaceful! All in all a great visit!

A very professional boatyard with nice clean boats. Follow the long lane out into the broads, and at the end there are plenty of parking spaces for boat hire customers. The whole experience was well run and very enjoyable. The introduction talk was just right and offered lots of useful ideas and advice for our time on the water. We had a morning hire from 9am to 1pm, which was plenty of time to explore Hickling Broad and Horsey Mere, then back to the vet quiet and remote Martham Broad before it was time to return. We stopped at one of the free moorings on the way to Hickling Broad to enjoy a late breakfast. We used their 8 person electric boat, which cruised around at a steady 4knots. So no risk of exceeding any limits, but perfect for exploring the area. The electric powered boat was lovely and quiet, and a doddle to control.

A full day hire. Excellent briefing from the lady at the boatyard. Advice on where to go and how long it would take to get there. Horsey Mere first, stop for coffee and cake and a trip up the wind pump, very interesting. Saw our first Bittern on the way to Hickling Broad, lunch at Pleasure Boat Inn then a steady cruise back with a trip past Martham Broad and Somerton. Excellent day out and highly recommended

We rented a day boat from 9am till 4pm and it was the highlight of our holiday!! The weather was beautiful as well. The staff were so friendly and gave you all the information you could possibly need including tips on where to go. I could not recommend this enough and if we are in the area again we would definitely book again.
