Cyll y Felin Fawr - Cyll y Felin Fawr 2

The Lleyn Peninsula's best beaches lie within a mile or so of Cyll y Felin Fawr 2. Whistling Sands is close enough for a quick trip, and Aberdaron—a proper village with shops and restaurants—sits at much the same distance. Abersoch and Pwllheli are easily driven to, as is Snowdonia if mountains call. The cottage itself is a converted stone building with character; it dates back roughly to the 1800s and sits in working countryside with sea views from the drive in.

Inside, you have two bedrooms (one double, one with two singles), a bathroom with shower, and a combined living and dining space downstairs. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking rather than holiday-cottage basics. Bed linen, towels and wifi are included; heating runs on oil and costs £20 per week in winter months. There's a garden where children can run about, though an unfenced stream crosses it, so supervision matters. One dog is welcome. The cottage is yours alone—no shared spaces with other guests.

Note that the stairs are narrow and steep, and the entrance sits only one step up from ground level. The second bedroom is in a low attic space, which works well as a den for children but limits headroom. No smoking indoors.

I booked Cyll y Felin Fawr – Cyll y Felin Fawr 1, for a 7-night stay, but I decided not to stay because of my experience. From the moment I arrived, the owner was rude, disrespectful, and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. When I went into the property, I found it to be old, poorly maintained, and absolutely filthy. It was nowhere near the standard I expected. I left instead of staying because I wasn't comfortable spending my holiday there. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this property.

Not impressed really, spent most of the time re cleaning dishes, one tray had baked on left overs on the bottom. Spiders have had a field day in there, cobwebs everywhere and no it wasn't recent spider activity. There wasn't any plugs in the upstairs room. Beds are very soft but I suppose that's personal preference.

Yet another great stay, our dogs are welcome which is great for us. A lovely stream at the bottom of the garden the dogs enjoyed, a peaceful rural location that is great for settling down at night with a roaring fire. The owners are great and if you have any issues they are happy to help. We will be back again soon.
