Riverbank Cottage

Photo: Riverbank Cottage

Betws-y-Coed sits at the heart of Eryri National Park, where forested valleys and mountain passes draw walkers, cyclists and climbers year-round. Riverbank Cottage is a small, self-contained base for two, set in this hiking heartland with a garden and patio opening onto the water. The village itself has pubs, a convenience store, and the Joe Brown Shop nearby—enough for a genuine stay rather than a quick overnight.

The cottage is arranged over two floors. Downstairs holds a living room with Freeview TV and an open fire, a separate dining room, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. The single bedroom upstairs contains a double bed (4ft 6in); the shower room is also on the first floor. Heating, electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are all included. The rear garden and patio offer a quiet spot to sit between days out, though there are eight steps down to reach it. No smoking is permitted in the property.

I just wanted to express our gratitude for such a lovely stay. The cottage was just perfect and the surroundings idyllic. We would certainly like to visit again.

The cottage is perfect in every way, small but perfectly formed and in a truly beautiful location. We’ve stayed here previously and will definitely be returning again. We’ve stayed here in the winter months and the log burner was lovely but to see the Snowdonia range in the summer was breathtaking. Sitting in the garden, in the evening sunshine by the riverbank was truly idyllic!

Riverbank Cottage is absolutely perfect. It is located in Capel Curig, with the most spectacular view, and a small shop for all your basic amenities. Waking up in the morning with the viewnof the mountains outside, and the river running through the garden is by far the best way to wake up. The Cottage is warm and cosy and and provides a perfect base for those wanting to go walking in and around snowdonia. Also lots of lovely walks around the cottage which don't require you to drive anywhere. Cottage is well equipped with everything you need. Good size conservatory to leave all ur wet kit in (a must when walking in Wales in November).....and a lovely hot walk-in shower which is perfect after a long hard day in the mountains. Communication with owners is 5*. Couldn't ask for anything more. Will definitely be back.
