Ty Halen

Photo: fiammetta galbiati

Ty Halen is thoroughly equipped for a large group or extended family. The kitchen has everything needed for ambitious cooking—electric oven, induction hob, air fryer, slow cooker and dishwasher are all here. Upstairs, the open-plan living space has a woodburner and bi-fold doors onto decking; downstairs there's a games room with table tennis and darts, plus a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi come as standard. The hot tub is available at additional cost.

Five bedrooms across three floors provide flexible sleeping arrangements: one super king (or two singles), two pairs of single beds, a kingsize, and a double. Bathrooms include both a bath with shower and a separate walk-in shower. The enclosed garden has decking, a lower sundeck and a masonry barbecue. One pet is welcome. Pwllheli is on the Llyn Peninsula in Gwynedd; the property sits above Morfa Nefyn beach, within reach of coastal paths and near Nefyn Golf Club. The Cliffs Restaurant & Bar is close by.

What guests say

katarina and the mushrooms

To be fair we stayed here several years ago, but I think the issues fundamental, and not based on owners. I didn't review at the time as this property didn't appear on Google. I was genuinely so excited to book this place, it looks completely idyllic and perfect in so many ways, I was so disappointed. The biggest issue are the attic bedrooms. The (excellent) pub, just behind, is on a level with the bedrooms so the noise comes straight in if you've got the windows open (which you will need to do if it's hot, as the heat really builds up). At the time we stayed there was multiple signs telling us not to use the hot tub (as previous guests had disturbed the pub staff who live on site, we know because we chatted to the landlady about it), yet every night we were disturbed. It was just a bit annoying! Clearly if you can sleep in (aren't going with small children) this won't be an issue. Secondly the kitchen was very small and if you go with 9 people, you'll struggle to prep the food. The cupboards were full of toast racks and egg cups (all labeled precisely for you to return exactly according to the many many lists of handwritten rules - hopefully these have gone now!). Regardless there was no space for groceries, and that issue will be hard to fix. The other issues we had were owner specific so unfair to mention really. I think if you are going with adults or older kids and plan on eating out, you wouldn't have the issues we did, but families with little children, take note!

Superb place to visit. I highly recommend taking a warm dip in a barrel containing seaweed. Very relaxing and the views are breathtaking.
