An amazing place to stay while in Haltwhistle. We were warmly welcomed by the owner who offered us a drink while we stored our bikes safely. Rooms are really well furnished, just like a beautiful home. There's a gorgeous lounge to relax in. The owner even offered us a lift to and back from the restaurant we ate in. Such excellent hosting. Breakfast was everything you could hope for. Fresh fruit, lots of choice, catering for dietary needs. We absolutely loved this place. Oh, and home made cake in the room!

We just finished a 21-day tour of northern England and Scotland. One of our first stays was at The Old School House and it soon became the standard by which all other B&Bs were judged! Definitely our favorite! Not only was it clean and comfortable, it had everything you needed to enjoy your stay, including freshly baked goodies in your room each night. The breakfasts were outstanding. But what made this place top the list was how we were treated by the hosts Ian and Kate. Ian volunteered to pick us up from the train station and on another occasion as well. When we arrived Kate came out of the house to greet us. We really felt as if we had arrived at the home of old friends for a visit! We also found the town of Haltwhistle to be charming and would definitely like to return one day!

The best B&B we stayed in, ever! Kate and Ian make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. They go above and beyond what you would expect. They gave us a lift to Vindolanda and helped with our wash. Breakfast was superb, with ample choice and all made fresh. We were glad we stayed 2 nights, because we had trouble choosing!

Trust the reviews — this place is wonderful. The Old School House is immaculate and beautifully presented, a real credit to hosts Kate and Ian whose care and hard work are evident throughout. I enjoyed a much-needed, genuinely comfortable night’s sleep, followed by one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time — a generous selection of both traditional and contemporary choices, all done properly. My only regret was having booked just the one night.
