What visitors say
We booked this trip not knowing it was going to be during the heatwave, even with this we had a great time. The hut was cosy, but very warm-altho at night with the door open it wasn't unbearable. We were able to chase shade around the camp to stay cool, and the rivulet was a refreshing. So much wildlife to see, nice and quiet, compostable toilets, hand wash areas, and benches.Nicholas was lovely and gave us a lift when he saw us walking up the hill to the site, provided recommendations on the area, kindly brought us drinking water, and allowed us to feed the alpacas and give them a shower. The local pub and shop were fab and walkable. We visited Bourne Valley PYO which was lovely. Overall an amazing stay to unwind and relax. We can't wait to stay again and go on some longer walks in the area.

The place must have been a great campsite at some point, but it’s sadly quite abandoned and left to decay now, which is a shame, as the location is excellent (minutes from a great pub and at the top of an incredible hill with amazing views, here the 2 stars). If they only cleared the accumulation of rubbish from years of waste, do some basic DIY on the toilets, repair the crumbling benches, etc, it would be a wonderful place. As it stands, it’s not wild camping but more like “camping amongst waste”, which is the opposite of wild camping. If things improve in the future I’d definitely love to be back.

Really enjoyable stay. 9 min from The George pub which was exceptional. Fire Pit and Logs available on site. Basic but great views.

It's a wild campsite with basic toilets and drinking water provided in barrels. It was perfect for my bikepacking adventure and I hope to be back.
