About Castle Cottage Inn

Castle Cottage Inn occupies two adjoining buildings dating from 1585, on Ffordd Pen Llech just off Harlech High Street and a short stroll from the castle. The seven guest rooms are individually decorated and combine the low ceilings and thick walls of the original cottages with modern en-suite bathrooms and comfortable, contemporary furnishings.

The inn is best known locally for its food, with Pattra's Thai restaurant now running alongside the Three Greens Aviation Bar, giving guests a choice of dining without leaving the building. Its position at the top of one of Harlech's steepest lanes means fine views over the rooftops towards the beach and bay, though the approach and stairs will not suit those with limited mobility.

For a short break centred on the castle, the beach and Harlech's own restaurants and pubs, Castle Cottage Inn's high-street position is hard to beat, putting everything in the town within a few minutes' walk.

That’s called hospitality at its best. Room was great although a little low ceiling (you get the fair warning before, I was just too tired and dreamed about falling on the bed). Food was also good and the bar in the hotel was really nice, not my type, but you could feel the spirit of the place and that hosts care I would drink more pints over there with no hesitation. Great place to stay, would choose once again.

We recently stayed at Castle Cottage to celebrate my 30th birthday, and it was honestly one of the most memorable stays we’ve ever had! Pattra was absolutely fantastic and incredibly attentive throughout our stay. She went above and beyond to make my birthday feel special, including putting up a birthday banner in the restaurant and arranging a beautiful dessert with a candle while she sang Happy Birthday. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made the celebration feel truly personal. The food was exceptional, our evening meal and breakfast was a highlight of our trip. Our room was immaculate, beautifully presented, and packed with thoughtful amenities. It was clear that a great deal of care and attention had gone into every detail. What really sets Castle Cottage apart is the warmth and hospitality. Pattra and the team genuinely care about their guests and created such a welcoming atmosphere that we felt completely looked after throughout our stay. The whole experience made my 30th birthday incredibly special, and we enjoyed our time there so much that we’ve already rebooked for August. We can’t wait to return. Thank you to Pattra and the entire team for such a wonderful and unforgettable stay.

Our two-night stay at Castle Cottage was easily one of the most memorable parts of our UK trip. This beautiful little hotel is truly a hidden gem in Harlech. The owners are such a lovely and fascinating couple — former pilot and flight attendant — and you can feel their personality and life experience in every detail of the place. The entire hotel is warm, cozy, stylish, and incredibly tasteful without ever feeling overdesigned. Every amenity and little touch feels thoughtfully chosen and carefully prepared. They also run the restaurant and bar themselves inside the hotel, personally cooking and hosting guests with so much warmth and care. The menu combines Thai and British flavors, and honestly, the food was outstanding — easily one of the most memorable meals we’ve had in the UK. Restaurant-quality is an understatement; every dish felt polished, authentic, and full of heart. The location is also perfect — right next to Harlech Castle, with lovely little streets, shops, and restaurants nearby. It’s also a very convenient base for hiking around Snowdonia, within easy driving distance. Parking right outside the hotel made everything effortless. If you’re visiting Wales, don’t only focus on the big tourist towns. Come to Harlech, and stay here. Castle Cottage is the kind of place that makes a trip feel special long after you’ve gone home.

My wife and I stayed at Castle Cottage over Easter weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed in room 7 which was very spacious. Great partial views out to Harlech Castle and Cardigan bay and all essentials in the room you would need i.e tea, coffee, biscuits as well as ironing board, hairdryer and a very comfy bed! The best part for us was Pattra and her teams food and service in their restaurant as well as the special Aviation bar! We ended up eating in their restaurant every morning + evening of our stay as the team make it so easy for you, the perfect spot to unwind. I imagine during the warmer months the restaurant will be popular so I would advise to book however it's still worth enquiring with Pattra as she will endeavour to try and accommodate you. Overall, fantastic stay and look forward to visiting again. Josh & Jordan
