Lovely house and gardens. Volunteer staff extremely knowledgeable and friendly which helped to bring the stories alive. Cafe short on food as delivery had not arrived (12.00). Also rather expensive.on top of the £20 to get in it was another £4 to park. Would not have gone were it not for some free entry vouchers.

A nice few hours stroll on a Sunday. Enjoyed a scone of the month which was Blueberry and oats drizzled white chocolate on top. Well worth trying. Ample car parking. Lovely gift shop. Enjoyed our visit.

This was my first visit to Bateman's and hopefully not the last. This is a beautiful, well preserved property that truly transports you back through time. The grounds are beautifully maintained, the working flour mill was a delight to witness and walk around (yes, you can buy flour!) and the house itself was truly one of the best kept, presented and preserved that I've had the pleasure of witnessing and walking around. The staff and volunteers on site are incredibly kind, knowledgeable and passionate. I must shout out a special thanks to the gentlemen at the door of Bateman's who greets you when you enter - he is truly knowledgeable and passionate about the property. There is also a wonderful woman in the study/library upstairs who shared her knowledge and educated me with a lot of new facts and findings! (make sure you take a guess of the animal rug!) We came mid-week, first to arrive pre 10am. The grounds were quiet for perhaps an hour and then - bam - it was incredibly busy from 11am onwards all day, which was a delight to see. There was two buses of school kids when we arrived, which didn't cause any trouble - except for navigating around the house (it definitely felt full and lively!) The most astonishing part of the Kipling's property - is that everything inside the property is original and left as it was, from when it was. The house is grand, warm, and absolutely captivating. There's a lovely gift shop on site - along with a tucked away secondhand bookshop. The cafe on the premises had a great variety of food to cater to all needs - and reasonably priced. I will definitely visit again.

Beautiful Home of Rudyard Kipling. Now National Trust. Gardens and Home well looked after. A walk in the gardens to the Mill. Where they still grind the flour. Fabulous setting. Lovely Tea room. Ideal for an iced coffee latte while taking in the beautiful gardens.Shop. Book store.
