Ox Lodge Barn

Photo: Ruth Green

Ox Lodge Barn is a converted barn in Brightling Park, designed entirely on the ground floor—a rare find that makes it genuinely accessible for anyone with mobility concerns. Two bedrooms sit at either end of the property, each with its own bathroom, while the heart of the place is an open-plan living space with a woodburner, dining area, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking. One bedroom has a four-poster king bed; the other has two singles that can be pushed together, plus a z-bed if you need extra sleeping space.

The essentials are covered: electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels come as standard, and there's initial fuel for the woodburner included. Outside, a gravelled courtyard with seating and a barbecue gives you a proper outdoor area, and parking for two cars is on site. One pet stays free, and the enclosed garden can be shut off. The High Weald setting means walking is genuinely on the doorstep, though you're also within half an hour of Rye, Battle, and Tunbridge Wells. A pub sits within a mile, and Robertsbridge station is five minutes away if you need a train to London.
