Mount House Barn suits families and couples after a rural base in East Sussex. The converted 17th-century barn has two bedrooms—a double and two singles—with one bathroom, and sleeps four. A woodburner warms the living room, and the kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with electric and gas cooking, dishwasher, and washer-dryer. The essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome, though should be kept on a lead in this sheep-farming country.
The real draw is outdoors. An enclosed patio garden with furniture and a barbecue opens onto open countryside, and the walking is immediate—the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lies a short drive away, crisscrossed with footpaths and cycle routes. Glyndebourne and Battle Abbey are both within reach. Nearby Burwash itself has the Buzzy Bees attraction for younger visitors. Two cars can park on site, and check-in is after 15:00, checkout before 10:00.

Having used the self catering, grade 2 listed barn conversion for many years, can only shout out loudly, praises re the hosts, welcome 'goodies', cleanliness, wonderful local hostelries, beautifully presented village of Burwash. Closeby National Trust property. And, many other visitor facilities non too distant, including the 'Old Town' area of Hastings, Rye, and Tenterden.
