Marshalls Farm

Herefordshire, County of

View on Google Maps

Marshalls Farm sits on working farmland with the Royal Forest of Dean, Symonds Yat and Tintern Abbey all within reach by car. The Wye Valley is close enough for a day trip; Gloucester and its cathedral are 10 miles away; Cheltenham's festivals and shops about 30 minutes south. Newent is 3 miles down the road, and there is a pub and restaurant at similar distance. The M50 is accessible but feels far away once you are here among 10 acres of fields.

The detached cottage has three bedrooms—a double and two singles upstairs, with a further single—and one bathroom plus a separate shower room. Downstairs, a living room with an open fire and freeview television opens to the kitchen/dining room. There is an ½-acre garden with seating and furniture, space to park three cars, and a washing machine tucked in an outhouse. One small dog stays free. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, and fuel for the fire is provided to start with.

Walking, canoeing on the Wye, mountain biking through the forest and horse riding are all nearby. May Hill, with its wild horses and views across to Wales and the Severn, is a 30-minute walk or 10-minute drive. The area suits couples, families and friends looking for a base to explore the borders rather than a retreat from activity. No smoking inside.
