A lovely ruin to fully explore. You can go up towers, walk around the moat (dry now) and explore the ruin fully. Awesome views as well. It was one of the best ruins i had been to, plus the cafe & shop were decent as well. Worth a visit if in the area and a must for members. It was in July, and the house martins were amazing to watch.

Visited here as our castle tour of the UK. Its an English Heritage site so a bit pricey if not a member. It is well worth the visit though as this rates among the top 10 castles I have visited so far. It is home to alot of swifts which is really nice to see. Lovely staff at the entrance and awesome views at the top. Its quite a large castle with plenty to see. There is a little walk to get to it but not excessively so.

This is a great Castle owned by English heritage. There is lots to see including a big tower to climb and a dungeon. There is a cafe on site offering delicious refreshments and a well stocked gift shop. The mead is particularly good. Definitely worth a visit. We are English heritage members and as it was members week, we had a family member each go in for free. We also had 20% discount in the shop and cafe. There was no wait to go in which was surprising as it was half term. Our dog was also welcome in the Castle and he had doggy ice cream from the cafe.
