Yartleton Farm is a detached holiday home on the owner's non-working farm at the edge of the Forest of Dean, near Longhope. You arrive into an open-plan living area with a kitchen at one end, patio doors opening onto a decked terrace, and views across rolling Gloucestershire and Herefordshire countryside. The space has a smart TV and DVD player; the kitchen contains an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge-freezer, plus a breakfast bar. One bedroom downstairs holds a king-size bed and its own shower room. Upstairs, the galleried second bedroom has two single beds. The garden is enclosed, mostly lawned with wild flowers, and terraced—there are steps down to the grass and a larger drop from the decking, so the layout requires care with young children or mobility.

Parking for two cars sits on site, and essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included. The terrace and garden furniture make it easy to spend time outdoors. The location suits anyone wanting to walk or cycle straight from the property into the Forest, or to use it as a base for activities like horse riding, canoeing, clay pigeon shooting and rock climbing, all available locally. Ross-on-Wye, Monmouth, Hereford and Cheltenham are all within driving distance. No smoking inside.

This has become our second home in the last few years. We’ve simply fallen in love with the place and will keep returning for as long as we can. The lodge is superbly positioned with views over the countryside to the Welsh mountains. The perfect place to chill with a book and a bottle. Inside is very modern, warm, comfortable and equipped with everything you need (including the coffee machine!). Walks from the doorstep into the ancient woodland and up onto MayHill are varied and tranquil, and the local pubs are a must for good food and drink (if you didn’t bring enough!). Anni and Peter are simply the best hosts you can imagine and we cannot thank them enough for making part of their home feel like part of ours. If it were possible to give six stars, we’d give seven!

Beautiful holiday cottage. Really great service from Anni and Peter, they made us feel right at home. Perfect location to get into the countryside and relax. I'm sure we will be back.
