Ryecroft
High Peak
Ryecroft is a detached cottage at the end of a gated track in the High Peak, surrounded by farmland with an established garden full of fruit trees. The property is private and self-contained, accessed via a level drive with parking on site. Inside, ground-floor living centres on a sitting room with Freeview TV and open fire, plus a dining room and kitchen equipped for self-catering. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms—one with a double bed, one with two singles—and a bathroom with bath and shower. Bed linen is provided; the storage heating and open fire keep things warm, though fuel for the fire is available locally.
The garden is the draw here. There's enough space to sit under the fruit trees with garden furniture, and it's a place where children and dogs have room to move about. Do note there is an unfenced stream about 10 yards from the lawn, so supervision matters. The cottage suits families or groups of four, and one dog is welcome. It's no-smoking only.
The immediate area is quiet, but within reach: a shop 1¼ miles away, a pub ¾ mile. Castleton is the starting point for several country walks, from gentle routes to more challenging terrain. Peveril Castle is 3 miles off; Haddon Hall and Buxton are further afield. Chatsworth House and its farmyard are also accessible for a day out. The stairs inside are steep and narrow.
