Visited after exploring the Hellfire Caves, hoping for a nice family pub lunch. Sadly the food really let it down. The pizza came with raw, undercooked dough, genuinely inedible in places. The chicken schnitzel was poor, which is hard to get wrong, and the burger bun was burnt while the burger itself was only okay at best. The setting and history of the place are lovely, and the staff were fine, but for the prices we paid the food was a real disappointment. Wouldn't return for a meal.

Lovely pub with great staff! Eaten here a few times now and food is lovely, Monica & Angelina are great behind the bar & with us. Stayed over on Friday evening and beds were SUPER comfy & a good breakfast in the morning :)

We went for lunch here yesterday. When we arrived there was a friendly welcome, however the woman seemed to be on her own with a table in the restaurant and running the bar. So divide was slow and she was often on the phone when at the bar. We ordered 3 paninis and a cheese pizza which took 50 minutes to arrive. When they did arrive there was no apology for the long wait and the paninis where cold, hard/burnt and had been sat under the pass for a while so the cheese had gone hard again and the pizza was under cooked. The pub itself is beautiful, but needs to be heated as it was so cold. Overall not a good experience.

One of those "could be so good, but isn't" places. Great sized pub garden with ample seating. So much potential wasted with lack-luster owner interest and equally minimal staff effort. Tap ale is often stale and takes several attempts and requests to get a decent pint, which they will do but not happily. Don't trust the draft without checking it for cloudy floating bits. Sad couple of packets of crisps remaining as snack options. Every visit is slightly disappointing.
