Ard Garraidh

Photo: Dawn Royds-Cameron

Ard Garraidh is a contemporary semi-detached cottage on the Highland fringe east of Inverness, positioned to catch views across open country toward distant hills and forest. The setting is rural and quiet, yet the locality has enough going on—a beach at Ardersier a mile away, a pub and shops equally close, Nairn five minutes' drive in one direction, Inverness 15 minutes in the other—to make it practical as well as peaceful.

Two bedrooms sleep up to six: one has a zip-and-link double (which can be split into singles), the other a bunk with a double base and single above. There is one bathroom with bath and shower. Downstairs, the living room has a woodburner, Freeview TV and DVD player; the kitchen is equipped for everyday cooking with electric oven and hob, dishwasher and fridge-freezer; and there's a separate utility room with washing machine and its own toilet. The garden is generous, with parking for four cars off the road.

Essentials—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi—are included, along with an initial supply of fuel for the stove. One dog stays free. The cottage does not permit smoking. The area suits families and walkers; Fort George, Culloden Battlefield and Cawdor Castle are within reach, as are boat trips for dolphin and seal spotting, mountain bike trails, and watersports. A travel cot and high chair are available on request.
