Diabaig lies at the end of a single-track road, nine miles west of Torridon's mountain range. The village itself is a working crofting community overlooking a natural harbour, with a restaurant and bar by the water. Red deer, pine marten and eagles pass through regularly; dolphins and whales can be spotted from the windows. The journey in is dramatic, the landscape surrounding you on arrival genuinely remote.
Eleven Diabaig Cottage is a nineteenth-century croft house, extended to accommodate six guests across three bedrooms and a bathroom. A sun room and living room both command views down to the village and harbour—the living room has a wood burner with logs provided. The modern kitchen and dining space occupies the rear, with a utility room alongside. Ground-floor sleeping is available. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included; the essentials for cooking are there if you want to prepare meals, though the restaurant below offers an alternative. No smoking is permitted inside. Parking is on site. This is a place for people seeking genuine quiet and isolation, with Torridon's climbing and hiking as a half-hour drive away. The croft owner keeps sheep and chickens that roam the property—lambs can be handled in spring with permission.
