Farr

Farr sits on a hillside above Helmsdale village, a traditional stone cottage where deer regularly appear at the windows and seascapes unfold across the view from the front. Everything is on the ground floor: a living room with an open fire and folding dining table, a compact kitchen at the rear with a full range of cooking and refrigeration, two bedrooms (one double, one twin), and a shower room with a separate toilet. The essentials—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi—are covered, plus fuel for the fire.

An enclosed front garden with bench and sitting area overlooks the hillside; the land behind rises open onto moorland where Highland scenery dominates. A mile down a steep single-track road brings you to Helmsdale's working harbour and the start of the North Coast 500. The cottage is privately yours for the duration, with parking for two cars and room for one dog (the front garden is fenced but not fully secure, and any damage caused by pets incurs a fee). No smoking inside.
