Sunrise

Sunrise is a single-storey cottage on a hillside above Navidale, with enough equipment and thoughtfulness built in that you arrive to find the essentials already handled. Electricity, heating, wifi, bed linen and towels are included. The kitchen has a full-sized cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, so you can cook properly or travel light. The living room has a woodburner (logs supplied to start with), a 43-inch TV with streaming services, and large windows looking across the bay. One bedroom has a double bed with its own en-suite shower; the other has two single beds served by a bathroom with a walk-in bath and shower. Everything is on the ground floor.

The 1.5-acre garden is enclosed, mostly level lawn with a sitting area and furniture, though there are some sloping banks and three steps at the entrance. A bike store and parking for three cars sit on the property. One dog stays free and gets a welcome tray; the garden gives them space to move. The cottage sits on a no-through lane, quiet enough for seclusion but close enough to reach Helmsdale's shops and restaurants within a mile. This part of the Highlands suits people exploring the NC500 coastal route, or those after hill walks, fishing and island trips. Children under five are not suitable given the sloped terrain and steps, and the property is non-smoking.
