Flowerburn Holidays - Gorse Lodge

Photo: J Stevenson

Gorse Lodge sits on elevated ground near Fortrose, offering accommodation across two floors. Downstairs, a generous open-plan space combines living, kitchen and dining areas with patio doors opening onto a private garden. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, and washer-dryer. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one double and one with twin singles—served by a bathroom with bath and shower. The property sleeps four and comes with heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi included.

This part of the Moray Firth coast draws visitors for its wildlife. Chanonry Point, roughly a mile away, is known as one of Europe's best vantage points for bottlenose dolphins, and the surrounding woodland and moorland harbour pine martens, buzzards, roe deer and otters. Walking and cycling trails crisscross the area, and the owner, who lives on site, can point you towards the best routes. Fortrose and the neighbouring village of Rosemarkie have pubs serving food and local shops. The beach is two miles away. One dog stays free. There is parking for two cars on the property, and you have the whole lodge to yourself. No smoking indoors.

What a beautiful place to stay. I was travelling for work and had a whole month to enjoy the views and serenity that the Flowerburn holiday homes had to offer. With Rosemarkie, Chanonry point and Fortrose just down the road, and easy connections to the rest of the black isle and beyond it's an ideal place to stay for a holiday in the Black Isle and Highlands.
