Far north in the Highlands, Kylesku is a remote village where dramatic scenery and outdoor pursuits define the landscape. Kylesku Lodges - Sandwood sits here as a base for exploring this corner of Sutherland, with everything on one level and room for up to five guests across three bedrooms and one bathroom.
The lodge centres on an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area with large windows facing out across the terrain. A king bed in the first bedroom, two singles in the second and a single in the third give flexible sleeping arrangements. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, induction hob, microwave and fridge—and there's a washing machine on hand. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are all covered. A private balcony with outdoor furniture overlooks the surrounding land, and parking for two cars sits on the grounds.
Kylesku is a starting point for the North Coast 500 route, with coastal roads and hidden beaches within reach. Boat trips from the village offer chances to see seals, dolphins and sea eagles. Walkers tackle nearby peaks like Quinag or venture into the Assynt landscapes. The lodge suits families and groups wanting to base themselves somewhere genuinely remote, though be aware it operates a no-smoking policy.

We absolutely love these beautiful lodges. The views are breathtaking with full length patio doors giving constant views over the loch and Quinag mountains. A lot of work has been done in upgrading the lodges, making them homely and warm, and just a lovely place to relax on the balcony after a day of exploring this stunning area. This is our 7th visit and I can't think of anywhere with more stunning views than here. Beautiful to wake up to and beautiful sunsets at the end of the day, just perfect x

This was my second stay at Kylesku, the first was in 2016 when I was spoilt weatherwise with a mini heatwave and gorgeous sunsets. Returning in 2025 to a refreshed and refurbished Lodge was a delight, being October the weather was a bit mixed with little wind, some sun and some rain. “Quinag” was perfect, a lovely large bedroom, plenty of space. The towels and bedding smelt wonderful, the lodge was clean and well equipped, can’t think of anything it didn’t have. Thanks to Karen for providing a wonderful lodge and the communication before arrival was great. Hope to return one day 😊

The Sconser Lodge we stayed in was immaculate and refurbished to a very high standard, the views were breathtaking and we were even lucky enough to witness deer on our doorstep. Overall a wonderful stop on our NC500 trip.
