Kylesku Lodges - Steall Gorge

Steall Gorge is a single-storey lodge in rural Kylesku, built to make the most of its Highland setting. Everything happens on one level: a combined kitchen, living and dining space with large windows, three bedrooms (one kingsize, two singles, one further single), and a shower room. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking rather than holiday shortcuts. Essentials like heating, linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered, and you get private parking for two cars and a balcony with outdoor furniture.
Kylesku sits on the far north coast, surrounded by the dramatic landscape of Assynt. The village is a departure point for boat trips to spot seals, dolphins and sea eagles. Walkers have the Quinag and other trails nearby, and the North Coast 500 route runs through the area. The beach is 9 miles away. The lodge suits families or groups of friends wanting a quiet base rather than a social hub; there is no smoking inside.

We absolutely love these beautiful lodges. The views are breathtaking with full length patio doors giving constant views over the loch and Quinag mountains. A lot of work has been done in upgrading the lodges, making them homely and warm, and just a lovely place to relax on the balcony after a day of exploring this stunning area. This is our 7th visit and I can't think of anywhere with more stunning views than here. Beautiful to wake up to and beautiful sunsets at the end of the day, just perfect x

This was my second stay at Kylesku, the first was in 2016 when I was spoilt weatherwise with a mini heatwave and gorgeous sunsets. Returning in 2025 to a refreshed and refurbished Lodge was a delight, being October the weather was a bit mixed with little wind, some sun and some rain. “Quinag” was perfect, a lovely large bedroom, plenty of space. The towels and bedding smelt wonderful, the lodge was clean and well equipped, can’t think of anything it didn’t have. Thanks to Karen for providing a wonderful lodge and the communication before arrival was great. Hope to return one day 😊

The Sconser Lodge we stayed in was immaculate and refurbished to a very high standard, the views were breathtaking and we were even lucky enough to witness deer on our doorstep. Overall a wonderful stop on our NC500 trip.
