Macinnisfree Cottage

Macinnisfree Cottage sits on the Isle of Skye's quieter west side, where the Sound of Sleat opens up views toward Ben Sgritheall, Loch Hourn and Ardnamurchan Point. Three acres of private garden roll down toward the shore, wild enough to support herons, curlews and eagles; otters have been spotted here too. The cottage itself stands 200 yards back from the water, giving you both the seascape and the space. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms serve six people, each bedroom with its own ensuite or shower room.

Indoors, there is a living room with an open fire, a separate dining room and a conservatory looking out to the water. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with a dishwasher and tumble dryer among the appliances. Wifi and electricity are included; bed linen is provided. One dog or cat is welcome. The cottage is entirely yours—no shared spaces, no other guests.

Within an hour's drive you can reach Talisker Distillery, Dunvegan Castle and Portree. Armadale pier, three miles away, runs boat trips to Knoydart's Old Forge for dinner, or out to see minke whales and dolphins in summer. Local hotels within seven miles include Kinloch Lodge, which holds a Michelin star. Walks range from demanding routes on the Black Cuillin to gentler trails immediately around the cottage and the surrounding shore. Ferries to Eigg, Rhum and the mainland depart from nearby; Kyle of Lochalsh bridge is 19 miles for onward mainland travel.
