The Holt

Couples and solo travellers will find The Holt a quiet retreat on the edge of Glenelg village, a Highland location with views towards the Skye mountains and backed by the Glenelg Hills. This semi-detached apartment is your own space, with a double bedroom upstairs and living areas below. The bedroom has a sloping ceiling on one side; the ensuite shower also has reduced headroom due to the roof line. Downstairs, a living and dining room comes with a 32" smart TV and DVDs, while the kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave and washing machine for longer stays.

Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. There is private parking for two cars and an enclosed garden with seating. One well-behaved dog stays free. The property adjoins the owner's home but is entirely yours to yourself. Note that the front garden contains an unfenced pond, and children cannot be accommodated here.

Glenelg is known for its Iron-Age brochs and 18th-century military ruins, but the main draw is wildlife and dark skies. Otters, pine martens, badgers and golden eagles are seen locally; white-tailed sea eagles fish the nearby narrows. On clear winter nights, the stars and occasionally the Northern Lights are visible. The dramatic drive in over the Mam Ratagan Pass is scenic in its own right.
