The Waternish Peninsula, in northern Skye, is a quiet corner of the island where crofting traditions persist and the horizons stretch to the Outer Hebrides. The Two Byres sits in Upper Halistra, a small community here, built to capture those expansive views. Large windows face south and west across Loch Bay and Loch Dunvegan, towards MacLeods Tables and Dunvegan Head, with the Cuillin peaks visible on clear days. In winter, northern lights often appear above the garden.
The cottage is modern and open-plan on the ground floor. A living area flows into dining space where a woodburner can supplement the underfloor heating, with patio doors opening to decked areas on three sides. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking; a separate study has a desk and printer. Three bedrooms sleep six: one with a kingsize bed and ensuite shower, one with a double, one with two singles. A second bathroom has both bath and walk-in shower. There are two garden steps. Essentials like electricity, wi-fi, bed linen, towels and logs for the fire are included. Parking fits three cars, and a bike store is on site. No smoking.
