What visitors say
Just had a lovely couple of days at Murkle Campsite. The owner Paul is a real gent. Great sense of humour and will do anything for you. Nice size pitches and although just of the main road it’s pretty quiet at night. Lovely watching the sheep and lambs the other side of the fence. A lovely beach was nearby, best to walk across the fields and down a track. Paul explained where to walk. Pot wash with 2 x sinks & drainers and plenty of hot water. Toilets and showers very clean. ( Just one loo combined with the shower for the men, an extra loo would have been ideal when occupied for a while!) Great stay, great views of the sea, Dunnnet Head and Orkney in the distance. Would definitely book again.

Camped here for one night. The owner was very friendly on the phone and in person. Walked us around, and gave us the “do’s and don’ts”. Even showed us his sheep during lambing season which was a grateful added bonus. Campsite was very well priced and had pretty views. One male bathroom with toilet, sink and shower, fantastic. Two female toilets with one shower and several sinks, brilliant. Washing area with two sinks and a fridge. Really enjoyed our stay. Recommend if you’re in the area or doing the NC500.

Perfect stopover on our NC500 trip. Absolutely lovely owners who were able to accommodate us short notice. All the necessary amenities available and all were very clean. We even got to sleep near all the sheep! The kids loved little lamb, Lulu 😍. All round a perfect experience !!

Honestly, cannot recommend this campsite enough! We found this site whilst looking for somewhere to stop for the night on our NC500 travels. Paul was super friendly and ever so helpful. We arrived and were shown around everywhere, to then be faced with an electrical issue in our van. Paul got to work on trying to help us locate the issue late last night, and let us use the horse box for a coffee, ending the night with listening to his stories, was just incredible to hear! Paul was back up early morning, wanting to figure out our problematic van, and after a few confusing head rubs, with none of us knowing what was going on, Paul recommended a local garage and gave us further advice on what to do with a possibility to keep us moving forward with no issues. We both felt at home being here and even the dog (Luna) enjoyed observing the sheep. We will definitely be back, hopefully with a fully working van 😂 there was even a short 10 minute walk to the nearest beach for Luna 🐾 Ben & Leah (Blue T5) 👋🏼
