Castletown sits on the North Coast 500 route, with Dunnet Beach—four miles of sweeping sand backed by dunes—within walking distance. The cottage itself stands 800 yards from a fishing harbour, and the wider area draws people for surfing, sea and loch fishing, golf, and coastal walks where red deer, puffins, whales and porpoises are regularly spotted. Thurso, five miles south, has supermarkets, restaurants, bars and a cinema. Locally, a pub with restaurant and a small shop are just 200 yards away.
Gladstone Cottage is a ground-floor space in a stone building with high ceilings and original shutters. It has one double bedroom, a shower room with separate toilet, and a kitchen-living area opening onto a private enclosed garden—useful for dog exercise and a quiet base between activities. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking; heating and electricity (charged daily or weekly during winter months) are extra. Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included. One car can park on site. Dogs stay free, though smoking is not permitted.

Beautiful one bedroom cottage on the main road of Castletown (Thurso). The owners Jan and Allan are amazing hosts and look after you when you need anything, or leave you to get on with your holiday. A short walk to the hotel where you can get a really good meal and book a table for Saturday nights are essential, at least 5-7 days in advance. There is also a very good children's play park a few minutes down the road and a 5 minute drive to the beach. Petrol station, a garage, a butcher shop, and a small Morrisons 5 minute walk. Gladstone Cottage is a small one bedroom house that is attached to the owners property. There is an enclosed garden for children to play or your dogs. It's a simple but perfect place to relax and work hard at doing nothing or going out to do something. We will be back.
