About Bank House

Bank House sits with mountain views stretching beyond its garden, a striking backdrop for a B&B set on Main Street in Thurso. Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and the option of family or accessible layouts, with drinks available in the room and free WiFi throughout. A 24 hour reception means arrivals are never a problem, whatever time you get in.

Breakfast is included, giving guests a proper start before heading out to explore the Highlands. Pets are welcome, so the trip needn't mean leaving the dog behind, and the garden offers a bit of outdoor space to unwind in after a day out.

The surrounding area has plenty to offer, with fishing, a pub or bar, and restaurants all nearby, along with entertainment for evenings in Thurso. The Castle of Old Wick adds a worthwhile point of interest for those keen to explore further afield, with Thurso itself around 5.10 miles away by the listed route.

I felt at home here. It was a wonderful experience. They look after you so lovingly, give you great tips for excursions and support you in every way if you want to go on a day trip to Orkney. They even gave me sandwiches because I didn't have time for breakfast. And even binoculars. You can also have a great chat with them, which is great because the idea of B&B for me is to socialise with the locals. But don't worry, if you want your peace and quiet, you'll be left in peace. You can reach good restaurants in the neighbourhood in just a few minutes. There is also a shop and petrol station next door. My room was very large and very clean. It is a former bank building and has nice high ceilings. You can park your car on the property. There is plenty of space. I hope they stay the way they are.

We enjoyed three wonderful days at Bank House, in a spacious and spotlessly clean room with private lounge and bathroom. Our hosts Mark and Trish were lovely, spoiling us with delicious breakfasts, lots of helpful tips on where to go, great conversations and a wonderful sense of humour. The area offers so much more to see than one would think at first glance (Castletown Beach, Dunnet Head, Castle and Gardens of Mey, Duncansby Stacks ...).

We had a lovely stay at the Bank House Bed and Breakfast. Everything was exceptionally clean and tidy. Our room had a very large bathroom with bathtub (barrier-free) and plenty of hot water. Comfortable bed with heating blanket. There‘s private parking behind the house. Tourist attractions (Dunnet Head, Castle of May, …) in short driving distance. The full Scottish Breakfast was excellent! There are also several alternative options (including vegetarian). We highly recommend staying at the Bank House and would love to come back anytime.

The hotel is in a converted old bank. The rooms are generous and have high ceilings. Large shower room and large shower. The icing on the cake was discovering the electric blanket! Breakfast was delicious, omelette with baked beans was quickly yummed down. After some proper thick toast, made from good quality bread with bits in. No evening meal but don't bother with Thurso. One hotel , practically next door and one a few miles away are both open to non-residents in their restaurants.
