A traditional pub-inn on Scholes Road in Holmfirth, surrounded by West Yorkshire countryside, known for hearty food and a warm welcome.
About The White Horse Inn
Scholes Road runs through the heart of Holmfirth, with the West Yorkshire countryside rolling out beyond the town, and it's here that The White Horse Inn makes its home as a traditional pub with rooms attached. It's an adults-only setup, with en-suite bathrooms and drinks available in the room, and there's a garden and picnic area for making the most of the surroundings when the weather allows.
The kitchen is the main draw, turning out Yorkshire tapas and generously portioned burgers alongside a good range of beers, and kids meals are available too for those visiting with family during the day. Staff are consistently friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming, with the pub rated as good value for what you get. It's worth noting that some rooms have been reported as tired in places, so this suits guests more interested in the food and setting than a polished finish.
Beyond the inn itself there's plenty to fill a stay, with fishing, horse riding and watersports all nearby, plus further pubs and restaurants within easy reach for exploring Holmfirth's options. Free on-site parking and 24-hour reception round out the practicalities, and free WiFi is available throughout.

What guests say
Popped in for a drink but ended up getting food. Beautiful pub in a stunning location (think it features in Last of the Summer Wine) The young woman behind the bar was very friendly and obliging. Ordered a vegetarian Sunday lunch and she checked that there were no lentils in there for me. My husband ordered a bean chilli with rice. We sat outside as it was a lovely day. The food was very tasty, good portions and nicely presented. I particularly liked the nut roast as it was full of nuts! Good selection of vegetables as well. Not the cheapest but still good value for money. I would recommend.

Rooms are clean and comfortable, The shower head holder was cracked. Breakfast was ok ,forgot about my wife's drink ,would have liked to be offered a second drink and extra toast . The pub is in a nice spot a little bit out of the centre

We went for food here recently and I can't say I was impressed and felt ripped off on my dish which was, lamb rump with vegetables. The vegetables were green beans which were fine and potatoes but they were horrendous and I'm convinced frozen. Just thin, tasteless slices of potatoes. The jus was thin and tastless and the lamb was OK. Another member of the party has suet pudding with mash potatoes. The suet pudding was good, very tasty. A few things that were ordered looked frozen and reheated. Not good for the prices being charged. The pub itself is lovely, in a beautiful location and it's friendly. Staff are really nice but seems not enough of them.
