About Carisbrooke Guest House

Carisbrooke Guest House suits travellers who want a quiet, adults-only base within easy reach of Inverness city centre rather than a big hotel setup. It's a short walk from the centre, making it a practical choice for those planning to explore on foot, and Culloden Battlefield is nearby for anyone keen on local history.

Rooms are en-suite and come with drinks provided, and guests can expect them kept clean and comfortable, with reliably good showers. Breakfast is served each morning, with a packed lunch option for those heading out for the day. There's a garden and outdoor seating for relaxing outside, free WiFi throughout, luggage storage, and 24 hour reception for flexible arrivals.

Staff are noted for being helpful and happy to offer local tips, which is useful given the guest house's position within walking distance of shops, restaurants, pubs and bars. A golf course and further entertainment options are also nearby. It's a straightforward, well-run stop for couples wanting comfort without fuss, close to what Inverness has to offer.

We had an awesome stay at the Carisbrooke Guesthouse (hi Joy!). The room we stayed in had one full sized bed and was clean and had everything we needed. The bathroom has a really good shower. The location of the guesthouse is perfect as well, a very short walk to the river, cafes and restaurants. The breakfast was delicious. Joy was an amazing host, he looked after us well and provided us with some useful tips about the area as well. Overall we had great experience and a lovely stay. One thing I would mention to travelers, if this matters to you, is that our room was very small. Also I’m not sure if there was a common area where you could go and sit outside of your room (except outside in the parking area—weather permitting). I only mention this as an FYI because we loved our stay overall.

We lucked into staying at this clean, comfortable, and convenient B&B — book as early as you can because it is usually sold out…with good reason. Room #3 was Very quiet (surprisingly so considering our room overlooked busy Kenneth Street) with a large room and large bath. #6 is also very quiet, convenient to the private car park, very comfortable with terrific water pressure in the shower! Breakfast is served at 7:40 am or 8:20, everything well-seasoned and made perfectly. Joy is a welcoming, pleasant presence who is dedicated to providing whatever his guests need, and we were delighted to have the chance to thank “the Commander” for her wonderful breakfast. Highly recommend!!!

We absolutely loved our stay at Carisbrooke! Joy was a lovely and welcoming host who took excellent care of us during our 10 night stay, even bringing our luggage up to the room for us and arranging our early morning taxi for our departure. The house is perfectly located, close enough to shops and restaurants for convenience, but far enough from the busiest parts of the city to be quiet. The room was clean and well maintained. I'm so grateful we chose Carisbrooke as our temporary home in the Highlands. Thank you again, Joy!

This guest house was a wonderful place to stay for two nights. It is close, walking distance to the main street in town. Joy and his wife are a delight who keep the home clean and efficient with excellent breakfast. Be sure to make reservations for dinner before you arrive as we had trouble getting into many of the restaurants. We were able to get in number 27 bar and kitchen, which was excellent and the next night to café one again, a very, very good meal. The guest house is very easy to get to Loch Ness and nearby hiking.
