Inverness spreads across the river valley from Stanford House, a Victorian property built in 1909 that stands on the banks of the Ness. The river path runs past the front door—a ten-minute walk along it takes you to Inverness Castle, and the city centre spreads out within easy reach in the other direction. Restaurants, cafés and a waterside pub are all a short walk away. The Highland capital sits at a natural crossroads into the surrounding country, so a day exploring Loch Ness or the Black Isle, or driving into the Cairngorms, means leaving and returning to the same base.
The house has three bedrooms sleeping six: two doubles and one single on the upper floor, a further single on the ground floor. Downstairs, a formal living room faces the river, while a second sitting room with woodburner and television sits towards the back, next to the kitchen. There is one bathroom with a bath and shower, and a separate toilet on the ground floor. The kitchen is fitted to cook with, and the courtyard garden beyond has furniture. Bed linen, towels and wifi are provided; logs for the wood burner are included to begin with, with more available locally. One car can park on site. Smoking is not permitted.
