About Muthu Belstead Brook Hotel

Muthu Belstead Brook Hotel is built around a sixteenth-century hunting lodge at Belstead, a couple of miles south of Ipswich and a short run from the A14. Its extensive lawned gardens give it a country feel while still being close enough to town for an easy visit, and the hotel is popular with wedding parties and conference groups as well as leisure guests.

Facilities include an indoor swimming pool and leisure club, a gym with 24-hour access, a sauna and steam room, and the Manor Restaurant and Garden Bar for on-site dining. Free private parking is available, which is a useful feature for a property just outside the town centre.

It suits visitors who want a resort-style stay with leisure facilities on site, and its price point makes it a reasonable step up from the town's chain hotels without reaching country-house rates.

Fantasic spa break here. From the moment you walk in, you feel at ease. The staff are all so friendly. We had a package which included, bed and breakfast, 25 mins treatment (I Indian head massage and sister had a full body) they were both amazing! The spa itself is lovely. Consists of a pool, jacuzzi, steam and sauna room. We had a three couse meal included also, and it was devine. The food here has never disappointed. The lady who served us was so lovely! The beds are so comfy, I slept all the way through without waking!! The breakfast buffet has plenty to choose from. I have been three times and will always return 😊

So went for afternoon tea for 2 x by 2 (so 4 people dining) , upon entering the restaurant area my husband friends and I waited 10 Minutes before approaching the bar staff to ask if we just find a table , we was told to wait, although the bar staff see us entering 10 minutes prior and did not interact until we approached them, so staff were not attentive at all. Our waitress however was very accommodating & helpful. Afternoon tea was disappointing so usually when you have afternoon tea for 2 you get two lots of everything , not here!! we had 3 finger sandwiches each. And they give 5 small pieces of cake selection but not the same selection. How can 2 people equally share 5 pieces of cake just seemed a little odd would have been better to have a portion each of the same , after all it is afternoon tea for 2 . I wouldn’t recommend afternoon tea here as there are many places around Ipswich that offers better value for money and equal portions. Also was not displayed professionally cakes looked like that had been cut with a butter knife and tasted like they were cheap supermarket isle cakes I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the case. Sausage rolls were nice and were served warm. Hot drinks were warm not hot , Tight with the clotted cream it was scrapped around a large bowl looking like it had been recycled from a previous guest. That also would not surprise me. Only thing good about the experience was the lovely waitress and the warm sausage roll. We also had to ask for our glass of bubbly at the end I am sure had we not asked it would not have been given but the waitress was very over worked looking after 7 plus tables on her own.

We never stayed but had a fabulous spa day. The staff, swimming pool and afternoon tea are fantastic. It could do with a lick of paint in the changing rooms and there were some missing tiles but it was good value for money via Groupon.

We visited for a spa with lunch. The spa was ok, very tired but wasn't expecting much considering the price. For lunch we ordered tea. The milk was bought to the table visibly off with lumps in it. We asked it to be changed and the replacement milk was only marginally better. For dessert we had Eton mess. I took one bite of the cream and instantly knew it was spoiled. We again asked for a replacement but we're put off our food by this time. We complained about this but the people we spoke to showed no reaction, almost as if this was a normal thing to happen. We also found a sewing needle under one of our chairs, very dangerous! I did email after our visit also but had no reply. I would not recommend this to anyone
