Traditional campsite with complimentary fire pits in a village setting, 15 minutes from the Bluebell Railway.

About Yamp Camp Isfield

Tucked into the East Sussex countryside near Isfield village, Yamp Camp offers an appealingly old-school camping experience – think fire pits for every pitch and a genuinely relaxed vibe rather than regimented rows. Families and dogs are both welcome, and the site's traditional approach means you can enjoy proper campfires while staying just fifteen minutes from the heritage Bluebell Railway, perfect for a nostalgic steam-train outing.

Facilities cover the essentials – showers, toilets and drinking water – though there's no chemical disposal point or WiFi, so come prepared if you need either. It's this stripped-back, no-frills charm that gives Yamp Camp its character, making it a sound base for exploring the South Downs or simply settling in for an evening around the flames.

My daughters and I joined two other families for a fantastic weekend at Barcombe Mills. We had a good sized pitch and were able to have a camp fire each night with firewood provided. There were two local pubs to walk which provided great atmosphere and excellent food. For one family in our group a tent was provided with a comfy bed! Toilet facilities were ok. We chose to go to the seaside for our showers/ bath! We can recommend camping at Barcombe Mills.

Basic showers and toilets, but lovely campsite within walking distance to a few pubs. Nice to drive to the nearby beach and to walk through nearby fields.

If you're looking for a quiet camp site then this is not for you. Despite the rules about "Quite Time" there were kids shouting and screaming and running amok until well past midnight. Music blaring from several camps well into the night despite the no amplified music rule. To add to this, there was a wedding reception in the village hall which is really close to the site and really loud. Karaoke as well, ugh!

This is cheap campsite at an expensive price. The facilities were basic and barely worked. There's no hot water and the plastic toilets were foul. Large noisy groups dominated and made the small groups uncomfortable. The campsite is supposed to be quiet before 9 and after 10 but it wasn't. There were no staff to be seen. Possibly the worst place I've ever stayed. We left early.
