About The Secret Campsite

Tucked into quiet Sussex countryside near Barcombe, The Secret Campsite lives up to its name with spacious, private pitches spread across meadow and orchard. Campfires are encouraged here – firewood's available on site at fair prices – and the whole place has a genuinely peaceful, back-to-nature feel that regulars clearly love. Facilities are spotless and well-maintained, with proper showers that actually work, plus a handy shop stocking essentials so you're not constantly driving out for supplies.

The pitch mix runs from standard non-electric meadow spots to orchard pitches and something called The Okra, giving you a bit of choice depending on group size. Staff get consistent praise for being helpful without hovering. Note that dogs aren't allowed and there's no WiFi, which suits the off-grid vibe but won't work for everyone. If you're after space, silence and a proper fire under the stars, this ticks the boxes.

Wonderful campsite. It has been done so well, really natural feel and enough space between sites that it feels private. The toilets and showers were great, always well maintained and well thought out in the way they were built. Staf onsite were friendly and knowledgeable - even lent us some tent pegs as we didn't quite have enough for our tent! We would definitely come again

A beautifully kept site with really spacious pitches. Very carefully laid out so you can either feel as if you have it all to yourself or share with friends! Loads of thoughtful touches which really set it apart (freezers to keep ice blocks cold, communal reference book library, site shop stocked with reasonably priced camp essentials for an emergency e.g. sleeping bags etc.) Large volumes of top quality fire wood, kindling and charcoal available on site in generous bags and fairly priced. Ablution, washing up and recycling facilities top drawer and always clean. Fresh drinking water locations really easy to access- no long treks with overflowing buckets! Tim and his team couldn't have been more friendly or helpful, made us feel so welcome and Tim took the time to chat to our boys about all of the wildlife on site. Really good selection of cold drinks, beer, ciders and THE most amazing ice lollies all available on site. SO pleased we found The Secret Campsite and already looking forward to being back!

Almost dont want to leave this review as I'd like to keep this gem of a campsite all to myself! But they deserve all the praise they get. Chloe was a super helpful and welcoming host, the site was serene, in a great location, with facilities of a high standard. Being able to cook on a real fire (handily with grates provided) was a lovely unexpected bonus. Everybody obviously cares about the land and keeping it beautiful. The world needs more places like this and we will be back!!

Wow, what a find and a right on my doorstep, booked on the easy online booking system for a taster one night to test some new kit and loved this location and facilities so much i booked another stay in a few weeks when i got home. It was wonderful to find a site with very individual pitches offering a degree of privacy that you wouldn’t get in the more traditional field campsites, and just as importantly the site ethos of nature and peace first without the commercial noise often associated with camping. The facility’s were some of the best i’ve seen and above all else Tim was a wonderful host who genuinely couldn’t be more helpful
