Camping and touring options on Bute itself are limited but well matched to what the island does best: quiet, sea-view pitches rather than large-scale holiday parks. The island's main site sits above Rothesay with sweeping views over the bay to the Cowal hills, taking tents, tourers and motorhomes as well as offering glamping pods for those without their own kit, while a smaller pod-only site on the west coast puts you a short walk from Bute's best beach at Ettrick Bay.
For campers wanting more choice of pitch types, facilities or a woodland rather than coastal setting, the nearest larger options are a short hop away on the Cowal peninsula, reachable either by the passenger and car ferry from Rhubodach at Bute's northern tip to Colintraive, or by looping round via Wemyss Bay and Dunoon. These sites make a sensible base for anyone combining a Bute visit with wider touring of Argyll, and are close enough to treat the island as a straightforward day trip by ferry.
