Croft 5

Tent campsite on Isle of Lewis with composting toilet and wild camping, plus an honesty bar stocked with homemade treats.

About Croft 5

Croft 5 is a tiny campground of just a handful of pitches on the Isle of Lewis, built around a working farm and designed for those who want to leave the car behind. The site leans into its remote Hebridean setting with wild camping available, a composting toilet, and a refreshingly low-key approach to facilities—showers are on hand, but the ethos is one of simplicity rather than convenience. Dogs are welcome year-round, and there is a dog walk nearby.

The real draw here is the character: the croft itself is dotted with eclectic art installations to explore, and the honesty bar is stocked with homemade treats prepared by the friendly owners. Cycling and canoeing are possible nearby, and the location offers the kind of peace and dramatic scenery that comes with a genuine back-of-beyond Hebridean setting. This is a site for people who want to disconnect rather than upgrade their camping experience.

Well where to start... Absolutely loved this campsite. Quirky yes, no toilets on site, they are nearby but what a superb experience here. Nice walking very close by, port Ness beach is beautiful. Nice sized pitches with electric hook up, tent camping is higher up in the field. Bar is great with an honesty box in it, it's actually more pleasant to sit in than some bars near my home. There is also a Honda blackbird in the bar, always wanted one but couldn't afford one. All in all fabulous and would recommend anyone to come here.

Just spent 3 great days on this most relaxing quirky campsite. The owners we're super friendly with a most relaxed attitude that makes your stay extra special. There's so much to see and do in this location. Some great walks, beautiful sandy beaches with massive sand dunes. The scenery from cliffs at the lighthouse are absolutely stunning. There's a local well equipped gym open to the public af £4 per person. Highly recommended.

Wasn't sure what to expect as we usually either book "sites" or CAMC CLs. This was such a great find. The welcome from Debbie was warm and felt like she was welcoming a visitor to her home. The pitches are a good size and the site was so peaceful. We enjoyed a walk along the cliffs to the Butt of Lewis lighthouse entertained by the quirky art installations which had been set up on the way to the edge of the croft. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site to anyone.

Perfect location for a meet up with old friends! So friendly, and a stunning location - we had brilliant walks both days! Loved our drinks in the pod and chatting with Debbie and Jonny. No showers and toilets but they are easily accessible at the sports centre. We loved the pot of jam and cookies too. Hope to return!
