About Rusty Meadow

Tucked into three acres of farmland near Godshill, Rusty Meadow is proper back-to-basics camping with a pop-up site vibe and a perfect 5.0 rating from guests who love its spacious pitches and peaceful atmosphere. You'll find composting loos (kept spotlessly clean, according to campers), drinking water, a washing-up area, solar USB charging, and even a small shop for essentials – though there are no showers, so come prepared. Pitched in a hay meadow with wildflowers at the edges (home to resident bees, a fair distance from pitches), it's all about starry skies, wildlife spotting, and stunning sunsets.

The site's 15-minute walk from Godshill's tearooms, pubs, and excellent wooden play park, with superb walking and cycling trails leading straight from the field – including the route up to Worsley Obelisk for knockout island views. Families and quiet campers thrive here; it's definitively not a party spot. As a bonus, guests get 15% off Isle of Wight ferries.

Wonderful back to basics campsite. Spotless compost loos, wash up facilities and a lovely little charging hut if you just can't bear to be away from your phone. Also has tiny little cupboard with essentials if you've forgotten them - complete with QR code payment which is actual genius. Can also buy firewood and rent pits if that's your bag, again, no cash needed, can pay with your phone. The camping area itself is very spacious, gently sloping in places but fine for sleep. A mixture of families and older couples when we visited. Great sunsets. Friendly owner, Nikki was a delight and was especially wonderful to my daughter. We will definitely be back.

Really lovely peaceful place to spend a few days! Stunning sunset view. Back to basics with great quirky amenities and a little shed shop for the basics! Really friendly people. Great pop-up campsite.

We tried this campsites out as it was very spacious and peaceful for our kids who have additional needs.for whats called a pop up campsite they have thought of everything. Fire extinguishers and sand buckets running along the fence posts. A charging hut with a honesty box shop there with essentials that are easily forgotten and came in handy for us. Compost toilets really well done and tidy. The wee wall is a brilliant quirky idea. The entrance to the campsite was really nice and inviting. The owner was very quick and polite and helpful with all my questions. Buckets supplied to fill with water for safety at your tent when having fire outs etc. This is by far the best campsite we have stayed on. Would highly recommend if your looking for somewhere to take your kids to get them outside and just enjoy quality family time.
