Downedge

Isle of Wight

View on Google Maps

This detached house on the Isle of Wight's east coast dates from an era of larger family living, standing on its own elevated site accessed via a private drive. The building itself spreads across two floors with six bedrooms—three with their own shower rooms—and four bathrooms. Downedge sleeps 13 and is yours alone for the duration of your stay. The grounds are substantial: a large lawn, patio area, and garden furniture for outdoor meals, with parking for six cars on site.

Inside, the layout suits extended families or groups. Two living spaces mean people can spread out—one with an open fire and bay windows over the garden, the other with a piano. The kitchen has a range and full equipment for cooking from scratch. There's a dedicated playroom stocked with toys and books for younger children, and a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Bed linen, towels and electricity are included; a travel cot and highchair are available. One well-behaved pet is welcome. The property is non-smoking.

You're positioned for exploring the eastern part of the island, with The Yarbridge Inn within a mile and Sandown's seafront and attractions nearby. The garden has two steps; entrance to the house itself involves 17 steps.
