Shoreline Cottage
Isle of Wight
Photo: Google Maps
Sandown's wide sandy beach lies directly across the road from Shoreline Cottage, a Victorian former coastguard building that sits right on the seafront. The three-bedroom property sleeps up to six and comes as a whole to yourself, with an enclosed lawned garden and patio at the front. One well-behaved pet stays free. The ground floor holds a living room with woodburner, dining room and kitchen equipped for self-catering; upstairs are three bedrooms—a king, two singles, and bunks—plus a bathroom with bath and shower. Bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included, along with heating and electricity. A travel cot, highchair and stairgates are available if needed.
The cottage retains period character, including exposed brick around the original fire surround, though it has been renovated for modern comfort. Sea views reach from the front-facing rooms. Sandown itself is geared towards families, with the pier and its amusements, cliff-top walks, cycling routes, fishing and golf all within five minutes' walk. The Isle of Wight Zoo, Dinosaur Isle, pitch and putt, trampolines, an indoor leisure centre with pool and gym, and various theme parks are nearby. A shop, pub and restaurant are 200 yards away. No smoking inside the property.
