The Sergeants Quarters

Isle of Wight

The Sergeants Quarters occupies one wing of Golden Hill Fort, a Grade I listed hexagonal structure built in 1863 and now converted into luxury holiday homes. The fort sits elevated above the north-west coast within 50 acres of country park, its distinctive geometry and period stonework now housing three generously proportioned bedrooms across two floors.

Ground level holds the three ensuite bedrooms: two with kingsize beds and one with two singles plus a pull-out single, all with wet rooms and heated towel rails. Upstairs, an open-plan first floor combines living and dining areas with a well-equipped kitchen containing two electric ovens, electric hob, dishwasher and all basics for self-catering. The living space opens onto a private balcony. Essentials including wi-fi, heating and bed linen are covered. The property accommodates one well-behaved pet, and can sleep seven. Note that access involves steep and spiral stairs.

The fort itself features barrel-vaulted brick ceilings with mood lighting, solid oak flooring and underfloor heating. Guests have access to a shared rooftop garden with panoramic views across the Solent and English Channel, plus communal parking for two cars. The surrounding landscape—an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty—offers walking, wildlife spotting and proximity to Isle of Wight attractions. No smoking inside.
