Rooten Brook Farm - Lakeland View
Lancaster
View on Google MapsLancaster sits within reach of serious walking country. The Trough of Bowland, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is on your doorstep; the Yorkshire Dales lie 18 miles away; Kendal and the Lake District are 27 miles north. Morecambe Bay is close enough for a coast trip, and the town itself has pubs, restaurants, a castle and Williamson's Park with its Ashton Memorial and Butterfly House. Golf courses are nearby if you want something gentler.
Lakeland View is a converted barn on a working farm, one of three properties sharing 800 acres of grounds where sheep and beef cattle graze. You get the whole place to yourself: a single bedroom on the first floor with a zip-and-link bed (configured as a superking or two singles), a ground-floor shower room, and an open-plan living space combining kitchen, dining and sitting areas. The kitchen has what you need to cook properly. Bed linen and towels are provided, and heating and electricity are included in the price. There's an enclosed courtyard with garden furniture, and parking for two cars on site. One dog or cat stays free.
The setting is rural and quiet, though shops and restaurants are four miles away. Smoking is not permitted in the property.
