The Lancaster Canal runs through countryside that opens toward the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales—both within reach for a day out. Sandpiper stands near this waterway, with a garden and patio where you can sit out, and parking for two cars on the grounds. One dog can stay free.
The cottage has two double bedrooms and two bathrooms across a ground floor and upstairs. Downstairs, an open-plan living and dining space connects to a kitchen equipped for cooking properly—oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine are all there. The first bedroom opens directly onto the garden. Upstairs, the second bedroom and bathroom with bath and shower complete the layout. Freeview TV, Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels come as standard. No smoking indoors.
The setting suits walkers and cyclists following the canal towpath or venturing into the surrounding hills. There is a step into the garden and open water on the grounds, which matters if you're travelling with young children. Fishing is possible with a licence of your own.

Lovely afternoon at the Sandpiper Club - lovely facilities - pool and outdoor hot tub were lovely! Star of the show was the facial in the spa. I had the Frankinsense Intense facial and would thoroughly recommend it. Products used were amazing and Tracy is an outstanding therapist - felt really relaxed and looked after by her. Fantastic value for money.

Stayed in the Lancaster House hotel and had free use of the facilities in the Sandpiper. Was impressed with the swimming pool, sauna and steam room. All the staff were really helpful and happy. Didn’t actually use the gym but wished I’d bought some decent footwear because it looked well maintained clean and well stocked with decent equipment.

Just joined this health club and I'm impressed by the facilities at the pool. A good sized pool, outdoor and indoor hot tubs, huge steam room and sauna all at a lovely quality. The gym is also well equipped and doesn't seem busy. The staff are extremely nice and knowledgeable, especially Lydia who was very kind to us on our first visit.

Was a member before covid and rejoined when they were able to reopen briefly last year with no problems. To rejoin again now though they want £25 for me and another £25 for my wife. This £50 is apparently the cost of setting up a direct debit. I complained and was basically told, too bad, thats the fee. The club wasn't great, I used it mainly as it was close so this has given me the incentive I needed to go elsewhere. Even if you're happy to pay huge fees for 'administration' I really wouldn't recommend it.
