About High Bank Hotel
The High Bank Hotel suits visitors who want a straightforward, affordable base in Leeds rather than a polished city retreat. With 20 rooms on Harehills Lane in West Yorkshire, it works well for anyone arriving late or leaving early, thanks to 24-hour reception and free on-site parking, and it keeps costs down for those on a budget trip.
Rooms are simple, with firm mattresses that suit guests who prefer a supportive bed, though upkeep is inconsistent and some rooms have shown signs of wear and staining. Breakfast is available, and the on-site bar and garden offer a spot to relax without leaving the building. Free WiFi and luggage storage add to the practical, low-fuss setup.
The hotel sits within reach of nearby pubs, restaurants and other eateries, along with local entertainment options, making it a workable stopover for exploring Leeds on a budget rather than a destination in itself.
What guests say
No idea why this hotel scores so low. Booked a double en-suite for the night to go to Roundhay festival. Me and my friend had a 4 and a half hour drive to Leeds and arrived at around 3am they had no issues checking us in at such a late hour and had no issues in hotel. Room was in great condition, I assume that most bad reviews are from people who are particularly picky about things. The biggest issue we had was one stain in the bedsheets which doesn’t really matter to me. The outside when arriving at 3am came across a little dodgy and for a second I thought the 2 stars were accurate but do not let the dark outside scare you the inside is in lovely condition. We checked out 15 mins later than check out time and they were very lenient. Lovely staff. Free parking. Would 100% stay here again a perfect budget stay and very close to city centre and other necessities such as a 3 minute drive to a Tesco

The hotel is extremely bad. There is a strong smell of mold in the room, and mold is present in most areas. The rooms are not clean. The heating in the room does not work. They gave us electric heaters; their wheels are broken, and one of them does not work properly. The room was very cold. I booked a room for four people, but they placed us in a room behind the building, as if it were a storage area or a shelter for insects. The water heater is not clean. The bed pillows are poor. The television does not work. Do not be deceived by the pictures — the reality is very painful.

No star rating the rooms are dirty, staff are miserable they dont know how to clean we had to move bedrooms due to tv not working i know its 2 star hotel should be 1 really it is awful the 2nd bedroom the bathroom had mould in it no hot water cupboards falling apart, shower door broken. Wardrobe broken towel heater on full blast cant turn it off stains on carpet had mucky sheets. Carpets in corridors none existent death trap to walk on at least 12 inches of dust cracks on the celing extractor fan not working. When we asked for 2 extra pillows she pulled a face and grunted like it was a problem we had to wait over 3 hours for pillows to be sent to us the steps outside are cracked and someone could quite easly injure themselves rubbish bags everywhere outside. The list is endless I know its a 2 star I certainly wont book here again but because we was on a mission and this was closer I would NEVER recommend to anyone else. Faulty towers looks like a palace compared to this Since coming here we havent stopped scratching Couldn't post without giving a star rating but it is the worse and when we went out to eat there was no where English to eat all halal food which wasnt to our taste NEVER EVER AGAIN PLEASE AVID THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE ANG SENCE

I would say you get what you pay for. Its not very clean, and abit mouldy and smelly, and I couldn't wait to get home and get showered. I would say its ok for one night and you get parking which is good. Bus about a 5 min walk down the road to get you to leed city centre. Having said that I would pay more next time to stay somewhere else.
