About The City Rooms
Hotel Street puts The City Rooms within easy reach of Leicester's pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues, with a golf course also nearby for those wanting to venture a little further. Free on-site parking makes it a practical base whether you're exploring the city on foot or arriving by car.
The rooms themselves are a strong point, with period features giving each one character alongside comfortable beds and touches such as mini-fridges and coffee machines. Every room is en-suite, and the adults-only setting suits couples or those looking for a quieter stay. A bridal suite and dedicated wedding facilities make this a popular choice for events, supported by attentive staff and a kitchen known for producing good food. Meeting rooms are also available for more formal gatherings.
Other practicalities include free WiFi, luggage storage and 24 hour reception, so arrival times are flexible. It's worth noting that some stays have been affected by heating issues, so it may be worth checking room conditions if visiting in colder months.

What guests say
We booked The City Rooms as a couple for Valentines weekend The building itself is stunning — full of character, charm, and beautiful period features that make it feel unique and luxurious. It is a Grade 2 listed building which you will need to bear in mind when thinking of booking, the windows are old and worn, the floor can be uneven in places and the original steep winding stairs are still present however this didn’t bother us and it actually added to the charm, but would not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties. My room was spotless, and spacious with a very comfortable bed that ensured a great night’s sleep. The attention to detail really stood out, providing a mini fridge, water, a coffee machine complete with tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Shower gel and shampoo provided in the very luxurious deep bathtub. The location was amazing, right in the heart of Leicester. Easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, and local attractions. It made exploring the city incredibly convenient. Please be aware of the chiming clock tower that chimes every 15 minutes, and there is a considerable amount of noise from the local bars and restaurants until about 2am ish, however this didn’t bother us too much as we are both deep sleepers and they very kindly provide earplugs. The room can get quite chilly though, as there is radiators but you are unable to control the temperature of the room. The hotel itself is unmanned so cannot comment on staff friendliness, but there is housekeeping that is around daily and telephone numbers provided should you need any assistance. It is a self check in and check out using a key deposit box Overall, I would highly recommend City Rooms to anyone visiting Leicester!

Beautiful hotel, love the mashup of the old English building style and modern style. The suites are clean, spacious and comfortable. My only issue was you cannot control the heating - and due to being a grade 2 building the windows are single glaze - it can get quite cold

I attended a wedding reception with my partner here. Beautiful rooms, excellent venue. Staff and bartenders were fantastic. Only downside was with it being a summer wedding, no air conditioning to cool the place down was a major factor. Still had a fantastic time but was sweating from start to finish. Looked like I had ran through a shower, was completely drenched. Would recommend maybe at a cooler time of the year.

I booked the Christmas afternoon tea for 14 December 2025. For my friend and her husband as a surprise she called me afterwards to say the venue, food and service were outstanding. It was something she wouldn’t normally have done for herself, and she kept saying how much it made her day. The place itself is beautiful, and the experience was truly special. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting to treat someone special. Thank you to all the staff.
