Lincoln's medieval streets and Georgian facades form the backdrop to Strugglers Retreat, positioned close enough to the cathedral and castle that you can reach them on foot, yet set back enough to feel removed from the bustle. The city centre spreads around you—independent shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs are moments away, and the Brayford Wharf offers waterside dining where you can watch boats pass by. A short drive takes you to Newark Showground's antique fairs and agricultural events, or to Market Rasen Racecourse and the Lincolnshire Wolds, which lie about 30 minutes distant.
The property is yours alone: a ground floor living and dining space, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, two bedrooms (one with a kingsize bed and smart TV, the other with single beds), and a shower room with a walk-in enclosure. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. There is parking for one car on site, and an enclosed garden with patio and barbecue for outdoor use. A travel cot, highchair and stairgate can be provided on request. The property is non-smoking.
This works well for couples or small families wanting to explore Lincoln's history and events—the Christmas Market, Steampunk Festival and annual cycling Grand Prix all happen here—or for those drawn to countryside walks through the Wolds villages, with their tea rooms and pubs for rest stops along the way.

Excellent host! Top spec apartments & with what we girls called 'the secret gardens' Absolutley stunning views & the beds & lining all just fanatastic too! I don't think I have ever seen so many Smeg kettles and fridges too :) this place should be sponsored! I held a gathering for my son's 18th after such a grueling 15mth with facing cancer as a family. We hired the whole venue for the evening which was just beautiful out the way of the hustle & bustle of the city, which was exactly what we was looking for. We was all spoilt with choice of hottubs throughout the venue, & what we personally loved, was the fact the host let us all have our own privacy throughout the evening. Some places we have visited before have had hosts that have continously been popping up throughout the evening interupting us, which in turn reduced the relaxation factor. We was very grateful to of had this privacy to have our own special time, to make memories together without interuption. My son & I hope to revisit on our own some time in the future with booking an extra evening next time as we didn't want too leave! Excellent hide away, beautiful scenery & astonishing views with a beautifully calm energy. Thankyou again to Deb! Although I didnt personally meet holly, who works at the retreat, friends also commented on what a lovely welcoming young lady she is too. Many thanks again for a wonderful evening for my son Lucas. Many many thanks Zoe Keeton xx

From the moment we booked our stay at Lincoln Holiday Retreat, Debbie went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I hadn't even updated our arrival time on Booking.com, yet Debbie proactively reached out with clear directions, including helpful photos, which led us straight to our lodge without any confusion. Before we arrived, Debbie also provided precise parking instructions, and our lodge was directly in front of where she told us to park. Everything was so well organised that checking in was completely stress-free. I asked Debbie if there were any halal places to eat nearby, and she kindly sent us a list of halal restaurants and takeaways in the area. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made our stay so much easier. When we arrived, Debbie personally welcomed us, made sure we had settled in comfortably, and gave us a tour of the retreat. Her warmth, generosity, and genuine care for her guests were evident from the very beginning. Before heading out to explore Lincolnshire, we also had the pleasure of meeting Debbie's son, Liam. He was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and just as helpful. Debbie and Liam both recommended several places for us to visit, especially as it was our first trip to the area. Thanks to their suggestions, we enjoyed some beautiful sightseeing, spotted some amazing birds, and even had the wonderful surprise of seeing a beautiful baby deer. Unfortunately, we missed seeing the llamas, but that's just another reason for us to come back! A heartfelt thank you to Debbie and Liam for their outstanding hospitality, kindness, and support throughout our stay. They made us feel genuinely welcomed and completely at ease from start to finish. Their personal touches and willingness to help made all the difference, and we truly enjoyed every moment of our stay. We highly recommend Lincoln Holiday Retreat to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with exceptional hosts. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

What a gem of a find! Came up to Lincoln to see Madness at the Castle, the location was perfect. Stayed in The Lodge, the layout was great, beautifully clean with comfy beds. Debbie looked after us fantastically. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
