About Mountford Hotel

Step into a room at the Mountford Hotel and you'll find things kept simple and clean, with air conditioning and free WiFi as standard, and a lift on hand for guests who'd rather skip the stairs. The decor leans a little dated in places, but the rooms are well maintained and comfortable, which matters more once the day's sightseeing is done.

The hotel itself has 32 rooms on Croxteth Road in Liverpool, with breakfast served each morning, though the spread is on the modest side rather than an elaborate buffet. Staff are on hand at the concierge desk to help with luggage storage and local advice, and free on-site parking is included, a genuine convenience for anyone driving into the city.

Location is the strongest card here: pubs, bars, restaurants and other eateries are all close by, and the city centre's attractions and transport links are within easy reach. It suits guests who want a straightforward, well-placed base rather than a lavish stay.

I come to this hotel every year for Africa Oye festival because of its convenience. It is a little bit of a farce though. Everything is clean and the rooms are nice and comfy, but the breakfast is just really horrible. The cups are just tiny...the coffee machine dispenses more coffee than the thimble of cup will take. Portions of food on the breakfast buffet should be laughed at, as they lay out such small amounts of for example tomato, or cheese that they just run out each time someone fills their plate. Staff hide in the kitchen as they are embarrassed about this. They serve boiled eggs, but again, they put out about 6 at a time and then there are again people waiting around for food. They have one member of staff on duty for evening. He has tto deal with check in amd the bar, and the customers who need an extra pillow. (So many people ask for extra pillows i dont know why they dont just give them out) I asked staff to put my coolie box freezy things in the freezer, so that my cookie box worked on day 2 of a hot festival, and OMG it was like I had asked for the earth to move! Again, we will stay there next year, but please, hotel...buy dome crockery and pillows, and serve food at breakfast, so residents don't think they are in an episode of a well known Comedy hotel series.

As returning customers we love this hotel. The building is beautiful. We love the staff, they go above and beyond. Given current financial climate the breakfast has declined a lot since our last visit but it won't put us off returning !!!! Amazing room & location Thank you George 😊

Nice big old Hotel, reception staff really friendly all were foreign workers but they were all really helpful and pleasant to deal with. Parking was easy spaces to the rear for about 10 vehicles and a bit more space at the front. Our room was on the top floor so a good few flights of stairs but for myself and my Daughter it was not a problem. Our actual room was good a little bit worn in places but large and roomy, clean and very comfortable. Excellent value compared to most other hotels in Liverpool. We had to use a taxi to get to Anfield stadium during our stay, I booked Uber for £13 which I was happy with untill they removed themselves before arriving the became re available for over £20!! Taxi home afterwards was £30 to do 4.7 miles parking around Liverpool during any large event is absolutely outrageous prices on the parking app ranging from £30-£1700 most of the budget parking sold out almost instantly. Traffic is horrendous across Liverpool so was glad to go in a cab even at such expense.

This is surprisingly good for a 'family' run hotel in the suburbs. At some time in the last 15-20 years someone has invested heavily into this building and despite being a little tired it still has some charm and quality in the decor a fit and finish, plus it is very clean and the staff are courteous too. Breakfast is a little dull but fine for the price and my only suggestion is that the gardener needs to get some pruning done before it becomes a jungle!
